Advantages
- Long lasting sources of energy
- Can be used almost anywhere
- Provide cost effective solutions to energy problems in places without mains electricity
- Totally silent
- Require little maintenance
- A completely renewable resource.
- Absolutely no pollution
- Not going to run out any time soon as the sun is only estimated to die 400 billion years later
- Solar powered panels and products are typically extremely easy to install
Disadvantages
- Solar Cells and Panels tend to be very expensive in first purchase
- Solar power cannot be harnessed during a storm, on a cloudy day or at night. This limits how much power can be saved for future days. Some days you may still need to rely on oil to power your home
- Solar panels take up alot of space, and are unpleasant to look at.
- Pollution decreases the amount of sunlight received, thus less energy is converted. Solar Panels are less efficient in factories and industries.
In conclusion, Solar Panels are long lasting(sun runs out in 5billion years) as compared to fossil fuels, which is estimated to run out in 40years. However, more research has to be done to enhance the use of solar energy before we use this technology.
